Give your iPhone a break, for the performance’s sake!
Let’s be real, when was the last time you switched off your iPhone on purpose? I’m not talking about a “battery died mid-Instagram scroll” moment, but a conscious, finger-on-the-button shutdown. If your answer is between “um” and “I guess, a year ago, maybe”, you’re not alone.
You see, we’ve been listening to a silly rumor about Apple products up until now that they should never be booted off as it impacts the battery negatively. In reality, that’s just crappy advice and only makes sense in one scenario.
For instance, if you’re outdoors, your iPhone is low on juice, and you don’t have access to a charging source, turning off your iPhone can indeed reduce the battery life, as booting up and loading the software components from scratch consumes CPU power. Only, and only, in this scenario, keeping it on standby instead of turning it off completely makes sense, as iPhones are efficient at preserving battery when they’re locked.
In everyday scenarios, keeping your iPhone on forever can be a bad choice, hampering not only its performance but also its battery health. I’ll be a bit technical in explaining why a simple reboot is so crucial, but I’ll try my best to keep…
