The MacBook Pro M1, in 2021, debuted with a notched design for the first time. It resembled the notch of our iPhones at the time. Soon this design was carried over to the entire M2 MacBook lineup in the following year, including the Airs.

But speaking of the following year, that’s when Apple got rid of the notch on the iPhone and replaced it with a much more relevant Dynamic Island. Unlike the notch, the Dynamic Island provides utility for the space it consumes. It is interactive and is sometimes helpful for doing certain actions such as tracking Live Activities and offering media controls.

The notch on the other hand is just a weird cutout to shelter the microphone and a true depth Face ID camera setup. But Macbooks don’t even have a Face ID. Yet, the notch continues to remain on these machines.

But thankfully, I stumbled on this app recently that changed my outlook towards the notch. The app’s name is, drumroll, please…NotchNook.

What does NotchNook do?

NotfhNook is an app for Macs, especially Macbooks with a notch. It adds functionality to the notch that should’ve been there by default.
