iPhone’s Upcoming Major Chip: What Can We Expect?
A18 Pro, a yay or nay?
When Apple unveils its latest iPhone 16 lineup this September, we anticipate the introduction of a brand-new A-series processor. Seeing the trend of recent years, it makes sense to assume that the top-of-the-line “Pro” models are going to receive this cutting-edge processor, while the budget iPhone 16 ‘non-Pro’ variants will likely be equipped with a version of the A17 Pro chip that powers this year’s iPhone 15 Pro. Ah, not really. This year Apple might break this trend for good. But don’t get your hopes up. It’s not what you expect.
“Introducing the new iPhone 16 and 16 Plus that are powered by the brand new A17 Pro from last year,” Steve Jobs… ah-um, I mean Tim Cook unveiling the new iPhone 16 lineup.
It makes no sense to me how Apple intends to add a yesteryear’s Pro chip into the regular iPhone 16 models. But I guess Apple has an evident history of doing things that defy logic. Anyway, without ranting further, let me share my speculations on the upcoming iPhone chip based on the rumours I read online.
