Whenever Apple launches a new iPhone every year, it only takes a few days for leaks of an upcoming iPhone to arise. The leaks get more accurate with time. It’s been around six months since the iPhone 13 series launch, and oh boy, some baffling leaks are here!
According to Ming-Chi Kou, the most relevant leaker of Apple, iPhone 14 lineup will be a lot different and disheartening than its predecessor — the 13 series. Here’s what will change.
1. The new sizes
Unlike the last two year’s lineup, this time, Apple is said to discontinue the mini series. Instead, the ‘standard’ iPhone will come with the same screen sizes as the Pro models — 6.1” and 6.7”.
It’s believed that the next generation of the iPhone SE will adapt the form factor of the iPhone Mini. It might be good news for some, but not for those wanting a smaller pocket-sized version of an existing device with no hardware compromise.
The reason why Apple will discontinue the Mini series is because of the poor sales in the past two years. Last year, in a few countries, the IPhone 12 Mini got sold for less than $450, during sales. Due to which, many retailers refused to buy the 13 Mini series in bulk.
2. Poor Chipset
“How do you expect us to sell the Pro series of iPhone 14, if the sizes are going to be same in all four models?” asked an Apple engineer.
The standard iPhone !4 and 14 Max are rumoured to ship with the A15 chipset from the 13 series. It’s not the first time Apple has borrowed a chipset from their older devices for their newer ones.
“You cannot blame Apple. If they put the same chipset in their new standard iPhones, there will be no good reason to purchase a Pro model,” says every fanboy ever, including myself. It’s sorrowful sometimes being an Apple fanboy.
