iOS 18.4 Beta 1 Is Phenomenal, But…
Everything new and changed and upcoming in the iOS 18.4 betas

Apple recently released iOS 18.4 developer beta 1 on Friday, February 22, and ever since then, I’ve been testing it out on my main device — iPhone 16 Plus. If you’re someone like me who installs beta firmware just to skip the waiting time to test out new features early, you should avoid this one, especially if you live in the U.S.
Now, this was odd from Apple’s end to release a new beta firmware on a Friday as Apple typically releases them on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Everyone was anticipating it to be out alongside the announcement of the iPhone 16e on Wednesday, February 19. But, looking at its current state, I wish Apple would take another week before releasing this buggy mess.
Although the 18.4 update is packed with a ton of new features many have been waiting for a long time, the first beta consists of many bugs that can make the overall experience unbearable.
