Here’s Why The New Apple Watches Are Banned
You cannot gift your spouse the latest Apple Watch this Christmas
It’s a sad day for Apple. It was just two months back when Apple launched their 2023 line of Apple Watches along with the new eco-friendly bands and cut to the present, the new watches are banned. But why? Did Apple release the same watches as last year and call them new? Or is there something more serious?
Without beating around the bush, let’s try to understand why the new Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2nd Generation have been banned. Long story short: Apple stole a technology, and the victim company filed a lawsuit that resulted in this ban.
Who is this company, and what did Apple steal from them?
Due to a patent dispute with Masimo, a medical technology company that specialises in pulse oximetry, the court has issued a sales ban on the 2023 lineup of Apple Watches. Masimo claims that Apple violated its patents and stole its trade secrets when developing the blood oxygen sensor for the Apple Watch. According to Masimo, Apple hired several of its former employees and consultants, who then disclosed confidential information to Apple.
