Here’s Why Apple’s New Journal App Sucks
An effortless app developed effortlessly
Over the decades, Apple has built a reputation as a perfectionist that takes its sweet time to release features that are optimised to deliver its full potential. The Apple we knew and admired didn’t care about competing in a race with its rival brands to be the first company to launch a feature.
Take the upcoming Vision Pro as an example. Apple did not rush to create a VR headset that didn’t justify the prestige of the company. Instead, Apple went slow, trying and testing several prototypes and technologies before concluding with the final product that blew everyone’s mind when it was announced.
When asked about the forever missing calculator app on iPads, Tim Cook, in an interview, stated that the team was not satisfied with the Calculator layout designed to fit the larger canvas of the tablets. Hence, they decided to shelve the idea until a better alternative struck their minds.
However, Apple contradicted its own image this time and launched an app without putting much thought and effort. In the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) Apple announced a brand-new journalling app for the iPhones that would come along with iOS 17.
