I’ve been upgrading my iPhone to the latest one for the last three years, but it has always been the ‘Plus’ model in my case (no pun intended).

Last year, when I purchased the iPhone 16 Plus, I was convinced I wouldn’t need to upgrade for the next two years. At least, that’s what I promised myself before guilt-spending on a new iPhone that almost felt identical to the last model.

But lately, ever since I’ve been reading about the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s upcoming features, coming from the prominent Apple leakers, I’ve made up my mind to upgrade my iPhone yet again.

Now, the switch to a Pro Max variant this year isn’t because Apple is discontinuing the Plus series and replacing it with the new ‘Air’ series. It’s purely because the Pro Max variant is expected to be so damn good for many reasons.

I’m sure you must be aware that the ‘Pro’ series is getting a new rear design that will feature an extended camera bar that goes from edge to edge, as you can tell from the cover image above. But I won’t be talking about it because that doesn’t count as one of the reasons to upgrade this year.
